Monterrey, Mexico -
Whirlpool Corporation has enlisted ACS to help implement its global strategic growth plan. As part of the plan, Whirlpool invested $20 million to create a cost effective world-class appliance research and development facility in Monterrey, Mexico.
ACS completed 40,000 sq. ft. of renovation and 60,000 sq. ft of new construction to enable Whirlpool to develop next generation appliances.
The existing refrigerator research and development facilities required immediate expansion and renovation to accommodate new platforms, which required improved laboratory functions to accommodate higher levels of research and associated staff growth.
A new washer/dryer research and development facility was also constructed to further expand the facility to accommodate its growth in research.
ACS worked together with U.S. and Mexican A/E firms to complete preliminary, final design and construction documents for the upgrade and expansion of the existing research facilities in Monterrey. Whirlpool also commissioned ACS to handle the construction management, which was carried out by working with local Mexican contractors.
