Project Overview

Our client, a repair station MRO (Maintenance Repair Overhaul) for hydraulic pumps used in onboard aircraft applications, needed a hydraulic test stand to perform ATP (Acceptance Test Procedure) testing on repaired hydraulic pumps.

ACS Solution

The stand-alone tester was manufactured out of stainless steel and, per customer requirements, included customer-supplied hardware (some of which was used), which added to the challenge of designing and building a custom test stand. The hydraulic pump is multi-port, with numerous fluid flow paths. This hydraulic test stand and system provides the pump a simulated electro-hydraulic environment, using both vacuum and liquid nitrogen to simulate different sea level tests, to match the performance of how it is used in the aircraft application. The hydraulic pump test stand verifies 100% of the functional requirements of the pump. The hydraulic test stand allows the client to meet requirements of their customer in terms of capacity and turn-around time, as well as improved performance, through reduction in set-up time and ease of use.
